Sigurd Linn Undem, 64, a resident of Gakona, Alaska passed July 31, in Wasilla, Alaska surrounded by his family.

Sigurd was born on August 2, 1953, in Big Timber, Montana to Ivar and Alma Undem. He grew up and attended schools in Big Timber and graduated from Sweet Grass County High School.

Throughout the years, Sigurd enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. His adventurous spirit took him from Montana to Hawaii where he resided for several years before finally moving to Alaska in 1994. Sigurd was known for sharing his passion for organic farming, hunting and gathering with all around him, encouraging a life of selfsufficiency and use of the land.

Sigurd is survived by his son, Shaun Undem and daughter-in-law Roxanne of Wasilla, his grandchildren Sierra, Savanna and Shaun; his sisters Alice Remley and Jo Vandervoort; his brothers, Toby Undem and Pete Undem; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivar and Alma and his brothers, Alvin and Ed.

A memorial service for Sigurd will be held in Alaska and one in Big Timber, Montana at a later date.
