Robert “Bob” McCann Jr.

Robert “Bob” McCann Jr. passed away, Tuesday morning, May 28 at LakeView Care Center if Big Fork, Montana.

Bob was born April 12, 1940, the son of Robert L. McCann and Helen (Holt) McCann of Billings, Montana. Bob was raised in Billings. He served two years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He spent several years working at Pierce Packing and managing Rainer’s Supermarket while attending Eastern Montana College, earning a bachelor of arts in history.

He married his first wife, Janice F. McCann, in 1960. Of this union two children were born, Doug and Michelle “Shelly”. In 1975 Bob moved to Big Timber where he owned and operated the Big T IGA with his family until 1996.

Bob married his second wife, Jan A. McCann, in 1996. Bob had two stepchildren by this union, Susan and Kristy. Bob and Jan made their home in Lakeside, Montana, where he worked for several years at Roasauers Grocery Store when he wasn’t fishing. When he retired, he and Jan took up fishing full-time.

Bob is survived by his two children, Douglas A. McCann and Michell M. (Terry) Talkington, sister Phyliss (Jerry) Gross, brother Gordon (Rachel) McCann, stepchildren Susan Aaberg and Kristy (Mike) Descalchuk and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jan A. McCann and brothers Gerald (Judy) McCann and Larry (Wanda) McCann.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at First Congregational Chruch. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
