OPINION: First-grader Bakery Reviews
Even the pickiest eaters couldn’t turn down a chance at reviewing the cinnamon rolls and cookies of Big Timber’s newest restaurant, Big Timber Pizza and Bakery.
Big Timber Grade School first-graders took a field trip to downtown to 121 McLeod Street March 21 as part of the Yellowstone Writing Project, which introduces students to a new writing style each school quarter.
This assignment dealt with writing opinion pieces, and the students of Lori Wheeler and Pam Chulyak dove right into the assignment. They first tasted the wares, half of which were donated by the bakery, then wracked their brains for descriptive words.
Pick up the April 7 edition of the Pioneer to read the top four reviews selected by the teachers. We couldn’t print the kids own writing because of space, but you can see the reviews from the entire class in a book at the bakery. They even drew pictures — you won’t want to miss it.
