Myrtle Drange Leone

On Sunday March 21st, 2021, Myrtle Drange Leone, loving mother, sister and wife passed away peacefully in her home in Tequesta, Florida. Myrtle was born on October 5, 1939 in Big Timber, Montana to Ludwig and Georgia (Faw) Drange. She grew up on her family’s ranch and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1957 from Sweet Grass County High School and continued her education to receive her bachelors and master’s degrees in education. She married Lawrence Leone in a small ceremony in Germany in 1969 and honeymooned throughout Europe. They made their home in Wellington, Florida where she became a home economics teacher and raised their son Michael. But she was a Montana woman at heart and loved being in Big Timber where she felt right at home. Myrtle, Larry and Michael would visit Montana in the summers bringing all kinds of fish and with the help of her aunts prepared feasts for all the family to get together and enjoy.

Myrtle’s passions included her love of football, which she passed on to her son Michael, reading, cooking, teaching others, sewing, and creating art. She was an avid chef always trying new recipes for family meals. Her family will always remember her kindness, patience, generosity, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her father, Ludwig, and her mother, Georgia, her husband, Larry, and her stepson Paul. She is survived by her son Michael (Diana) Leone, grandson, Miles, brother Blick (Ruth) Drange of Big Timber Montana, nieces, Marlys, Georgie, nephews, Stewart and Andy, and several cousins.

A celebration of life will be held this summer in Big Timber, Montana.
