The Mendenhall Fire

On Aug. 26, a fire was reporter near Mendenhall Creek at 1:10 p.m. Local departments responded, but the fire had grown too severe for local reinforcements. The Montana Department of Natural Resources County Assist Team was activated and took control of the planning and execution of extinguishing the fire. As of the morning of Aug. 29, the Mendenhall Fire was 30 percent contained and had burned up 1,275 acres of land. These photos from inside certain divisions of the fire, namely Divisions A and Z along the southern footprint of the fire, bordering the West Boulder Road.
