Hoofin’ It for Cancer Poker Run

A dozen riders and their mounts assembled at Bill’s Place the morning of June 18. The sun beat down on their backs as they readied themselves to depart on a 12-mile ride around Melville. To their left, a cluster of runners and walkers also made their final preparations for their respective six-mile jaunt. 

It was the first-ever Hoofin’ It For Cancer — a poker run and walk fundraiser for the Sweet Grass Cancer Alliance (SGCA). The event was held in memory of the late Connie Kunda, who died from breast cancer last September.
