Dusting off the old ones: May 16, 2013

I hope this one is old enough for you. Sometimes, you don’t have to dig all the way through every bound copy of the archives to find some fun history.

Granted, it’s always to compare “now and then” with the early 1920s and what not, but that’s not to say there wasn’t plenty going on here in Big Timber just five years ago.

A lot can happen in five years’ time. In 2013, I was merely making my way through my sophomore year of finals, getting all excited to move into my new college apartment and becoming editor of our university newspaper.

Here in Big Timber, Pioneer Meats was “Makin’ good bacon,’ as they stacked up against state-wide competition, bringing home several top prizes from the 2013 Montana Meat Processors Association Convention.

The Big Timber Grade School band and choir put on their spring concert, featuring the critically-acclaimed “Pop Bottle Hoedown” for friends and familly who attended.

Carly Rech showed off her speed as she brought home three gold medals in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes from the district meet, and the Herders coupled with Manhattan to win all but one of the events.

On the golf course, the girls’ advanced back to the state tournament behind the swings of Chessa Parker, Megan Emter, Taryn Campbell, Jordan Moody and Jocelin Holman.
