Corky Hedrick rode into heaven on April 12, 2021. We know he is truly in heaven since he will be reuniting with family & friends, riding horses, playing cards and telling stories. Born June 12, 1933 in Billings, MT to Paul and Georgiana (Cernlovich) Hedrick. He was raised on Willow Grove Dairy by the Yellowstone River in Billings until his Dad bought a Ranch on the Stockade in 1945. His Mom died when he was four and the Roy Bromenshenk Family moved in with them to help raise Corky and his two sisters.

He attended school at Orchard, Garfield and Lincoln Jr High, then Billings Senior. Graduating from Absarokee in 1953. Corky had a football scholarship to play for MSU ~ Bozeman until a horse wreck crushed his ankle.

In 1951 they had moved to the Stoney Lonesome Ranch in Stockade country to work the ranch with his Dad, where Corky ranched until his death. He was one of the last true Cowboys.

He married Clarice Arthun June 7, 1953. Together they were blessed with four children: Josh Hedrick, Georgi (Scott) Hamel, Debra (Mike) Farnsworth and Ronis (Scot) Yanzick.

He is survived by his wife Clarice of 58 years, his 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. His sister Shirley Blakely, 2 nephews, 5 nieces and an entire community of friends that Dad always considered his extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Lee Wilson, sister Phylis Shaver and sister-in-law Joyce Arthun.

The family would like to Thank the terrific Absarokee Ambulance Crew, the great Staff at the Stillwater Billings Hospital and the very caring and loving Ladies of Shipp’s Assisted Living. You all made Corky’s last few weeks blessed by your gentle smiles and kind hearts. God Bless you all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Absarokee Ambulance or Fire Department.
