Netters hit the road for districts

After finishing fourth out of six teams this season in Class B District 5 play, the Herders are slotted as the No. 4 seed in their district tournament this weekend.

Sweet Grass County High School volleyball will take on No. 5 seed Townsend at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 27. Should the Herders go on to win, they’ll face No. 1 seed Three Forks, who received a first round bye. Jefferson is the No. 2 seed, also receiving a bye.

The Herders (5-13, 3-8 District 5) fell to Jefferson on Oct. 21 in the final regular season match of the year, three sets to zero.

This year, the Herders tout a variety of skills on the court, through a season culminating to this point.

Senior Madilyn Emter leads the team with 304 digs, while Jolie Wood has a team-best 127 assists.

Emter also leads the team with kills (94) with help from Rylee Wittrock (71) and Brooklyn Pederson (66) helping with the offensive efforts up front.
