Herders maintain speed at Belgrade Invite

The Sweet Grass County boys’ and girls cross country teams hit the road on Sept. 2 to compete in the Belgrade Invitational Cross Country Meet in Bozeman. 

The Herders were coming off their first meet of the season in Livingston on Aug. 25, and made the trip to Bozeman as a last-minute invite. 

Graysen O’Connor was the leading runner for the Herders on Sept. 2, as he was the lone varsity runner. O’Connor took 34th place overall in a time of 20 minutes, 56 seconds. 

Freshman Kailey Forrey finished third overall in the girls’ JV race, coming through in a time of 24:42. Forrey dropped nearly two minutes off her time from her first race of the year. 

On the JV boys’ side, Terrance Cowell took 37th in 24:10. For Cowell, it was his first race of the season.

Ty Ferguson joined him, finishing 48th in 26:16 in the boys’ JV race.
